History

Premier Special Events is owned and operated by George Kuckly and Jason Kibbe. The business partners both worked for PSE prior to purchasing it in the fall of 2021 from company founders Bill Ellison and John Gearty. Bill and John started Viking Rentals, a construction equipment rental company, in 1994 and soon thereafter expanded their repertroire to include special event equipment like tents and installation. Premier Special Events was created under the Viking Rentals umbrella and then in 2015 was turned into a standalone company.

With Telluride as a highly desirable destination for summer festivals and year-round weddings and special events, PSE grew tremendously over the years and eventually Bill decided it was too much to run both Viking and PSE. He wanted to focus on Viking and the construction rentals and decided to sell PSE. George and Jason, who already knew the business, jumped at the offer to buy it as soon as Bill presented it. It was a perfect fit as they had already had the experience and would be able to focus the time and energy needed into keeping it the success it had become.

George and Jason have done just that, and Premier Special Events continues to be the foremost event rental company in the area.

The Team

  • Owner

Originally from New York, George moved to Telluride in the early 1990s, following in his sister’s footsteps as she had lived in the area for a few years during that time. George cam coming for the skiing, the beauty, and the lifestyle, and like so many others found his home.

In his several decades in town, George has worked numerous jobs in the service industry Premier Special Events, an equipment rental and production services company, in April 2021.

  • Owner

Jason Kibbe originally hails from Massachusetts and moved the Telluride during the winter of 2007-2008. He began working for Premier Special Events in 2009 and quickly found he had created a pretty good lifestyle for himself…snowboarding all winter and setting up tents in the summer. He worked hard and learned the ropes over the years, never really thinking the business would eventually be his…until the opportunity arose.
